Digital Immigrants are those who have landed in a strange land and little by little, watching the natives, we learn to survive in these latitudes. Web 2.0 is as new as the century, we can create content, share and communicate with people who have the same interests as us anywhere in the world. It's almost the promised land.

The library of the Polytechnic University of Madrid has offered its staff a training course on Web 2.0. On day 21 I shared with a group of colleagues at the Polytechnic a day when we talk about the place of libraries in social networking. For some, was the first encounter with Facebook. Even those who initially distrustful and suspicious, eventually seduced by the numerous possibilities of knowledge sharing in social networks.

Train template library 2.0 technologies, is betting on a new relationship with users, but also give librarians the opportunity to review their work, from a creative point of view and motivating.

This is the presentation I used in the course:

We forget to savor the moment and need to forget memory:

" memories are like plants: there are some that must be removed quickly to help the rest to develop."

woven into the fabric to the memory and the memory remains forgotten always in the same way that life and death intersect.

Oblivion appears in all cultures in three different ways: the return, if you miss this for the lost past, the suspended time, which divides the present from its link with the past and the future, and Finally, the start initiation, he forgets the past in the form of a new birth.

These figures are similar and confused, they are daughters of oblivion. They are in our lives, and must also be social events, because " must be at least two to forget .

Rereading a book we return, we return to relive the experience, careful not to anticipate the future, but also recovered the lone moment of aesthetic emotion, and also open ourselves to an experience brand.

Oblivion also cures the ordeals, how else could we survive? are the descendants of those who have suffered, those who have the duty of memory: the duty to remember and to see that the horror is not repeated.

The desperate I

If after reading the latest blog entries on Samsa Tiburcio sin, you still have the desire to continue with the theme, be ye good glasses, and keep reading ...

Despair is the price we pay for trace divine that dwells in our soul. The feel on the edge, while the gap opens at our feet. It is the gasp of our finitude envious of God.

" Man can once and for all eternity throwing away from him ... the eternal return at any moment, and that means that the despair is catching every moment of despair."

No escape:

"The desperate desperate not to destroy, and this is actually what is their torment [...] more to reach success in the loss of self .... the eternity will hook into the [...] have a self and be a self is the highest award has been made man, but it is also the requirement that eternity is about him. "

are fouls we commit sins because each of them we see the distance that separates us from the divinity with which we measure, and we feel naked and alone before his election:

"A charming and lyrical verve never reached respectively neither married nor any of the reverend."

The library Tuenti or What's a girl like you doing in a place like this? Users

Social networks are popular among librarians. We are attracted by its potential for communication and exchange, and we want to be there. In Spain, the most widely used network is Tuenti , the customer profile is between 22 and 25 years, and only in the Compluntense has 30,000 users. Why, then, most libraries have opted to Facebook embark on the adventure of the networks?

After getting the invitation of a teenage nephew, I have entered Tuenti to track profiles of university libraries. If the pages of Facebook, a good number of fans librarians libraries are eager to experience new emotions, Tuenti find the actual user, that with which we passed down the hall and whose conversation heard on the bus. The following comments are drawn from the profiles of the Library of the University of the Basque Country and Information Sciences from the Complutense

"ajajajajaja tuenti up where we in these times most of the time! Olé! "
" And from here you can reserve a site? It is by not having to go to the tails of 7.30 in the morning ... "
" library lady, do not you Descojonado when people climb the spiral staircase to the top floor? "

This user was responding to Mrs. library, when she told him: " I hope that my tables are convenient for your nap ... "Very comfortable ... I do not strike me as comfortable are my companions. ..

Some might think that the library is a place serious enough to lend themselves to these jokes teens, but would also be nice to reflect on our sudden interest in entering the social networks.

We are told that we must be where the user. Libraries have always had a vocation to serve the community. As the motto chosen by the National Library exhibition on 150 years of the Corps of Archivists and Librarians: Sic vos non vobis taken from some verses of Virgil, which means: So you, not for you. ...

Web 2.0 offers ways to communicate with users to never have dreamed. When generalized social catalogs, readers can easily switch between them their views on the books they read, and may even label them according to their interests, but also if they wish, may be part of a network of users with similar interests, which are in turn generating more intellectual knowledge or simply human (where is the line?).

As stated in Tuenti profile of one of these libraries: Not everything is learned in class , and this I would add, and not everything is learned from books.

While libraries do not have mechanisms to generate their own networks is well out into the world and take advantage of existing ones.

Our library was already in Facebook, now also just landed on Tuenti and look for friends.

Of course, there are also groups serious, and even groups composed of library users. These are some, with its description:

hate people that borders the library books

library books are tod @ s. The one I desperately need to underline / highlight / comment on a public book can carry a notebook of notes, photocopy or take kindly delete your entries ... provided, of course, not the pencil made pasta.

The striped non distracting influence reading and bother.
Be respectful to our neighbors,! Say NO to books scratched!

I hate the heels going to the library

hate to those who come to the library by high heels?
have to study enough so that few bother us with the Heels, the LIBRARY is not to presume to study.

heels for disco NOT FOR LIBRARIES!

I like to sleep in libraries

I want to put a bathroom in the library

Because we spent the day studying there and disposal needs not respect timetables or venues ... WANT A BATH IN THE LIBRARY!

is also the protest as

Argentine popular support libraries

public libraries are self-managed civil associations neighbors in a community open space close relationship with the other, education and local culture ....

do not want a hollow in the UPC library This is the feeling of all those students from the UPC, who really want to "build academy" is useless to a library comfortable if facilities do not have the elementary books.

feel a healthy envy for those libraries that serve as a binder for people who frequent them create a group around him, that his interests their desires, or his desire to spend time to find a common basis of being library users.
